Alexandr has a background in software engineering with a focus on iOS development. He’s passionate about clean architecture and modern app design, having spent years refining development practices and mentoring new engineers. As the author of Swift Fundamentals: Preparation for SwiftUI, he brings both technical depth and teaching experience to Votap, where he leads the app’s technical development and product direction.
What first inspired you to join Votap?
"When my co-founder Zahoor first pitched me the idea, I immediately loved how simple yet powerful the core concept was. The stock market parallel just made total sense to me — it’s such a clear way to visualize public sentiment in real time. I was also honestly surprised that nothing like this already existed. Politics has always felt so outdated, with no real feedback channel running 24/7. What really clicked for me was the idea of giving everyone a way to participate and creating a platform that breaks social bubbles. At the end of the day, most people share the same core values — they just rarely see that through all the noise."
What’s the most exciting part of working on Votap?
"Honestly, the best part for me is when everything finally works flawlessly after hours of building and testing. That moment when it all just clicks is incredibly satisfying. Seeing people’s reactions has been amazing too — it’s been overwhelmingly positive, and when someone says things like “we should have had this 10 years ago,” it really gives me joy and motivation to keep going."
What has been your favorite moment at Votap so far?
"My favorite moment was definitely when the app finally got approved for the App Store. We’d been stuck for a while with this vague Apple guideline — “4.2.2: Minimum Functionality” — and got rejected multiple times without really understanding what they wanted from us. It was frustrating, and at some point we thought it might never go through. So when that approval finally came in and we saw Votap live on the App Store, it was an incredible feeling."
